El dios vivo del metal

Dio es un grupo de heavy metal fundado por el legendario vocalista Ronnie James Dio en octubre de 1982.

Tras el abandono por parte de Ronnie de Black Sabbath,empieza a cobrar forma la nueva agrupacion , primero integrando la batería de B. S., Vinny Appice, luego aVivian Campbell a la guitarra y Jimmy Bain al bajo( a partir de 1984 se suma Claude Schnell en los teclados).

Holy Diver,su primer disco dispara la leyenda de Ronnie James Dio siendo conocido desde alli como "The Voice of Metal"con clasicos como "Shame on the Night", "Holy Diver", "Don't Talk to Strangers "y" Rainbow in the Dark".



En la portada se veía a un demonio lanzando a un clérigo encadenado al mar. En esa imagen el diablillo (conocido por los fans como "Murray") hace con su mano el famoso signo de los "cuernos" que el público metalero suele utilizar en los conciertos de Rock, y que el pop ha tratado de plagiar en varias oportunidades (Dio denunció en 2004 que Britney Spears intentó imponerlo en sus conciertos). Ronnie reclama la autoría del signo, pues dice haberlo patentado en su paso por Rainbow en los 70's. Al respecto, asegura que los "cuernos" resumen el concepto "Long Live Rock and Roll".

Actualmente dio se encuentra hospitalizado debido a una cancer estomacal su esposa dijo estas palabras a la prensa: "Cuando Ronnie venza a este dragon regresarà a hacer lo que mejor sabe hacer: Rockear"
